<> HALT THE BLOOD MINERALS TRADE IN THE D.R. CONGO <>

v:shal kanwar & En Avant Congo invite you to AMANI, a unique event promoting activism to end the most lethal war in the world and raise funds for this war's rape survivors. AMANI will bring together dancers and musicians from two traditions – Congolese Soukous and South Asian Bhangra – which have electrified party-goers across their respective continents for decades.

A brief program will engage attendees in activism to end a conflict that has taken 5.4 million lives and left hundreds of thousand of rape survivors in need of services, followed by a friendly competition between the Soukous and Bhangra dancers and musicians as they represent the best of their continents’ moves and grooves in the first such dual performance of its kind.

The Congolese dancers will be from the internationally renowned group Wenge Musica.

AMANI’s up-beat, infectious spirit, innovative cultural content and unifying message is sure to deliver the most electric evening’s entertainment in Washington, while attendees fund the services rape survivors in Congo need to move forward.
